About the initiative

Not a tree-planting campaign…an experience of impact.

Plant in Madinah is an environmental, tourism and community initiative that aims to plant one million trees through a hands-on experience: visitors, sponsors and the community plant the trees themselves, so every visitor becomes part of a sustainable, documented impact.

Let the end of the visit… be the beginning of an impact that stays.

Why?

Because a visit can become an impact.

Visitors come to Madinah carrying a deep spiritual, cultural and human experience. That is where the idea began: let the end of the visit be the beginning of an environmental impact that stays.

The visitor's journey starts with a guided tour of Madinah's landmarks, heritage and history, and ends with planting a tree — turning a passing memory into a living contribution to a greener future.

Vision

To turn planting into a lasting impact that grows vegetation cover and raises quality of life — through a model that brings together environment, tourism, community, sponsorship and digital documentation.

The visitor journey

From visitor… to planter.

Every Plant in Madinah experience follows a simple, meaningful path:

  1. 1

    The tour

Visitors begin with a guided tour of Madinah's landmarks and experiences tied to the spirit of the place.

  2. 2

    Meet the initiative

They learn the initiative's purpose, the impact of planting and the role of participants and sponsors.

  3. 3

    Choose a seedling

They choose a seedling or a way to take part, depending on the available program.

  4. 4

    Plant it

They plant the tree themselves, with suitable technical and organisational supervision.

  5. 5

    Documentation

The experience is documented with photos, core details and the planting location where available.

  6. 6

    Digital certificate

A digital certificate carries the participant's name, with a field for the sponsoring or supporting party.

  7. 7

    An impact that stays

The tree remains a symbol of the visitor's participation and a lasting impact tied to Madinah.

Digital documentation and certificates are part of the initiative's model: after a planting is approved, our team issues its certificate, which then appears in the participant's account.

Programs

Three paths to impact.

Plant in Madinah rests on three core programs, each built to scale:

  • Public & community sites

    Community planting

Planting trees in public and community sites with visitors, sponsors and organisations — growing vegetation cover and spreading a culture of planting.

  • A symbol of Madinah

    Ajwa palm farms

A program that honours the Ajwa date palm's place in Madinah's identity, planting Ajwa palms within an organised, documented visitor experience.

  • A greener cityscape

    Gardens & eco-parks

Developing green spaces, gardens and parks within the initiative's scope to grow vegetation cover and improve Madinah's urban landscape.

What makes it different?

An integrated impact platform.

Plant in Madinah brings several elements into one model that connects people with place and environment.

  • A human experience

    • A visitor experience, not a traditional planting campaign.
    • Every tree is planted by a visitor or participant.
    • A direct connection to Madinah and its visitors.
  • Documentation & partnership

    • Digital documentation of impact through data, certificates and reports.
    • Sponsorship opportunities for companies and individuals.
    • Technical, operational and agricultural partners.
  • Model & sustainability

    • Brings environment, tourism and community together.
    • Designed to scale across multiple sites.
    • Funded through sponsorship and participation.

How does it work?

A clear operating model, built to scale.

The initiative runs on a flexible model: preparing sites and programs, operating the experience, documenting the impact, then expanding step by step.

  1. 1

    Identify suitable sites

Through partners and enabling bodies: gardens, streets, open land or sites belonging to different organisations.

  2. 2

    Prepare the planting program

Choose the tree or palm species, the technical requirements, and how planting and maintenance will work.

  3. 3

    Build sponsorship opportunities

Offer ways to take part for companies, individuals and sponsors.

  4. 4

    Run the visitor experience

Organise tours, welcome participants, carry out the planting and document each participation.

  5. 5

    Measure impact and report

Prepare reports on impact, tree and participant numbers, and sponsorship outcomes.

  6. 6

    Expand gradually

Bring the experience to new sites, programs and sponsorships as sites become ready.

Each operating cycle produces a site, an experience, plantings, documentation and an impact that can be followed.

Targets and impact

A million trees… a million impacts.

Through this target, the initiative seeks impact on several fronts:

One million trees is the initiative's target; we show progress towards it once published data is available.

See the impact page
  1. 1Involve a wide number of visitors and participants in planting.
  2. 2Raise environmental awareness among Madinah's visitors and community.
  3. 3Support vegetation cover and quality of life.
  4. 4Activate corporate social responsibility.
  5. 5Turn a visit into a lasting, documented impact.
  6. 6Create an emotional bond between visitor, tree and place.
  7. 7Build a model that can scale across multiple sites.
